Kids In Action: A Global Movement

This video was a no budget video made from found footage provided on VHS tapes from all over the world. The narration was done by a  volunteer in support of this project.

Written, Produced, and Directed by Rosemary Rawcliffe
Editor, Joe Bini

All over the world, young people are organizing themselves.  Thousands of boys and girls from many different cultures are forming alliances to redefine social and environmental problems from their points of view. Young leaders are working together on issues that concern them.  As we move into a new millennium, something important is beginning to emerge – a movement in support of children’s rights and their participation in the life of their communities.  When young people play an active role in defining and managing their world, they gain hope, confidence, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.  Their energy can be formidable.  Their ideals are often bold and promising.  We must work together, adults and kids.

Dr. Michael G. Schwab, Executive Director, Children and the Environment, Berkeley, CA

“A group of us met yesterday to view Kids in Action:  A Global Movement, and we all agreed that you have done a great job, creatively and technically.  The footage we gave you was very mixed, yet the final product is a nice whole.  And there’s a lightness about the way you put the images together, even with very serious issues.  Child labor, discipline, kids rights, these are not easy to grapple with.  Thanks a lot.  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your work to anyone.”
